Meyerbeer On Song to Win 1460m Maiden at Queanbeyan

The 4YO entire Meyerbeer, raced by Keith, Kristan Dyble (pictured), Kristan's mother Mrs  K Hurst, and long time Stables supporters John Bradley, Paul Meiklejohn, and John Hogbin, got away with the Maiden on Queanbeyan's Christmas race day.
Star apprentice Taylor Lovelock-Wiggins had the bay perfectly placed on the fence behind the speed early, then peeled out on turning to gain a winning break.
Meyerbeer is named after the German-born operatic composer,  Giacomo Meyerbeer.
Meyerbeer (the horse, that is) paid $5.30 a win on the NSWTAB.

De Jetcat Wins at $95.30 in Sydney

The 4YO Tale of the Cat mare De Jetcat won over 1400m at Rosehill on the 10th December.  Ridden beautifully by Stables jockey Kevin Sweeney, De Jetcat finished through he field to win by a long head.  It was the mare's fifth win, and her second in town.
For those betting on 'best tote price' arrangements through agencies like Sportsbet, De Jetcat paid the UniTAB return of $95.30 for the win.
Keith said that the win surprised him a little, as he is preparing De Jetcat for longer races.  It just shows how much promise she has, he said.

Saturday Win For Bacchanal Woman

The Lockyer Thoroughbred Syndicate's grey mare put up her best performance to date in winning over 1500m at Rosehill on the 6th December.  Bacchanal Woman had drawn barrier 1, and before the race, Larry Cassidy said he would make maximum use of the inside.  He jumped her first, then had the 5YO by Encosta De Lago travelling 4th, keeping the others wide.  She had too much zest in the run to the line, to win by a neck.  The time was about 0.5 of a second faster than the other 1500m race that day.
Bacchanal Woman will now go for a spell, in preparation for stronger races in the Autumn.

Private Dan Wins over 2300m at Goulburn

The General Nediym gelding Private Dan showed off his staying ability with a fighting win in the Goulburn Workers Club Handicap on their Cup day, 21st November 2008.  Kevin Sweeney had the top weight in the firing line at the 300m mark, and the horse proved too good from there to win by a length. He started at $8.00 in the ring.
Keith now plans to start Private Dan in the Canberra Cup on the 30th November.

Acta Non Verba Says It All With First Start Win, 10th October 2008
Acta Non Verba is Latin for 'actions not words', and the Strategic gelding lived up to his name when he showed the opposition just how good he is in winning over 1000m at Wagga.  Kevin Sweeney allowed the impressive-looking bay to roll to the lead early in the race.  The 3YO showed tenacity to hold that lead comfortably to the line.
Pictured are three of the part-owners who watched Acta Non Verba win a jumpout recently in preparation for his first  run. L-R: Phil Blake, Andy Dorman, and Peta Huckstepp.
Acta Non Verba was bred by two more of his part -owners, Jasen and Michelle Bennett, of Young NSW.

De Lightning Ridge Shows her Class to Win at Canterbury

Stables' darling De Lightning Ridge comfortably led all the way at Canterbury on the first day of October 2008.  Kevin Sweeney had the Tale of the Cat filly coasting  one and half lengths in front at the turn, then set her in cruise control to the line.
Keith plans to start her once more in Sydney, possibly followed by a Melbourne trip for Spring Carnival races.
De Lightning Ridge got under the bookies guard, at SP $7.00.

Keith Wins 2007/8 Canberra Premiership

Keith emphasised his position as one of the region's leading trainers by taking out this season's Canberra premiership.  He trained 19.5 winners for the season, four ahead of his nearest rival, Barbara Joseph.  Keith attributes his success to his good staff, and especially to his loyal owners .

Peter Robl to get Divine Matilda home on the last day
of the season at Canberra, unfortunately without success.

Three Wins on Canberra Cup Day for the Stables, Including the Big Race with Testa Grande
-De Lighting Ridge Shows She Is Top 2YO Prospect
-Steel Titan Wins Convincingly

What a great day it was for the Stables at Canberra on the 16th of December 2007.  Firstly,
De Lightning Ridge blitzed her rivals in the 2YO Black Opal Qualifier Plate by seven lengths in sizzling time (faster that the Open Handicap).  Then, Kevin Sweeney made it two for the day on the promising Steel Titan in the 1400m Mix 106.3 Handicap, picking up the leader  One Time at the 60m mark, for a strong win.
The highlight of the day, however, was Jay Ford's ride on Danny McMillan's Testa Grande, which relished the dead track to take the lead at the 50m mark and win by a short neck on the line.
Winners' dividends on ACTTAB were De Lightning Ridge $1.50, Steel Titan $9.20, and Testa Grande $13.30.
